Preview
The Kansas City Royals head to UNIQLO Field at Dodger Stadium on Monday, August 10, for a 10:10 PM ET first pitch against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Noah Cameron gets the ball for Kansas City against one of baseball's most formidable rotations, with Tarik Skubal taking the mound for Los Angeles. This is a serious road test — the kind of game that shows you exactly where a ballclub stands. Bobby Witt Jr. and the Royals offense will need to be sharp to keep pace in a ballpark that can quiet visiting lineups in a hurry.
Probable Pitchers: Noah Cameron vs. Tarik Skubal
Cameron draws arguably one of the toughest assignments any Royals starter can face. Skubal is one of the premier pitchers in the American League and the assignment will demand efficiency and command from Cameron. Kansas City will need Cameron to work deep enough into the game to keep the bullpen fresh — every outing matters as the calendar moves deeper into August.

Keys to Watch for Kansas City
Bobby Witt Jr. Sets the Tone
Hitting second and anchoring the middle of the Royals' identity, Witt Jr. is the engine of this offense. In a game where Cameron will need run support against a pitcher of Skubal's caliber, Witt Jr. getting on base early and creating havoc on the bases is critical. If Kansas City is going to steal a win in Los Angeles, Witt Jr. will likely be at the center of it.
Jac Caglianone and Salvador Perez Provide the Power
Batting third and fourth respectively, Caglianone and Perez represent the Royals' best chances to do damage in single swings. The Dodgers' lineup will produce runs — that's not a question — so Kansas City needs its own power threats to answer. Perez, a proven presence in big moments, is the kind of hitter who won't be intimidated by the stage.
Cameron Must Limit Shohei Ohtani and the Top of the Order
Ohtani leads off for Los Angeles, followed by Andy Pages and Freddie Freeman. That is a gauntlet of an opening sequence. Cameron's ability to navigate the top of that lineup without major damage will define how much stress the Kansas City bullpen absorbs. Keeping the Dodgers off the board in the early innings gives the Royals a fighting chance.
Prediction
This matchup favors the Dodgers on paper. Skubal is a difficult assignment for any lineup, and the Los Angeles roster — from Ohtani through Betts — is loaded with threats at every turn. That said, the Royals have the pieces to be competitive. A Witt Jr. led effort with a timely power moment from Perez or Caglianone could keep this game close into the late innings. Expect a Dodgers win, but don't be surprised if Kansas City makes it uncomfortable.
